 Basic Arrow Building Supply List
You will need...

• Shafts- Wood shafts with a lacquer coat to seal and protect them for long term use.

• Nocks- Make sure the nock diameter is the same as the shaft diameter

• Points- The point diameter has to be the same as the shaft diameter.  Blunt tips are preferred for soft target practicing and safety.

• Feathers- 3 feathers per arrow.  Feathers vary in size, cut and colors. Longer feathers stabilize arrows in flight better, Shorter feathers will give your arrow faster speed but less stabilization in flight. Fletching jig helps with proper placement.

• Glues- Should be used with adult supervision
    Ferr-L-Tite, Hot Melt glue can be use with matches, candle, lighter or alcohol burner for point installation.
    Duco Cement, is used for nocks and feathers.

• Color is optional, lacquer is common for wood arrows because it is water resistant and flexible.  Lacquer does have strong fumes and is hazardous, it is used with acetone and requires good ventilation and adult supervision, also works best with cresting machine or dipping equipment. Follow safety precautions closely.

•  For crafty children, a permanent marker may work for adding color, with less danger, mess and clean up.  Use pieces of masking tape, wrap around the shaft evenly for straight lines, color in between the taped areas.  Remove the tape when the color is dry.
