Port Orford Cedar Oil
The Port Orford Cedar tree grows only in
scattered stands or individuals in a small coastal area of Oregon and
California.
The Port Orford Cedar essential oil is
derived from Port Orford Cedar trees that are "down" trees; that have
died of natural causes, forest fires, blow downs, etc. We neither
cut, nor use live trees; most trees will have been down for 100 to 500
years. The trees come to us either from timber sales or from
private landowners in salvage sales.
RCA uses Port Orford Cedar
for its' arrow shafts. The oil is a by-product of the arrow
factory, derived from the sawdust produced from the RC Archery
doweling machines and saws used to make the arrow shafts. The
sawdust collects into a 40,000 lb. bin, we freight the sawdust to our
distillation facility where the sawdust is steamed, condensed, and the
oil separated from the water.
Purity of our POC oil is assured by the fact
that RCA processes only Port Orford Cedar through our
facility. |
